More About The Bee Plan

Every child deserves to grow up in a decent place to live.

Every child deserves to feel safe, nourished, and empowered.

Every child deserves a place to play, a place to feel loved....

a Home.

How do we do it?

The Bee Plan’s poverty relief efforts are focused on the Eastern Visayas region of the Philippines which is amongst the highest poverty rate and the highest tropical cyclone traffic of the Philippines.

Each year The Bee Plan mobilizes in January during the dry season to construct homes with the funds raised during the preceding year.  The natural disaster victims provide the unskilled labour, the local parishes or local governments provide the land, and The Bee Plan provides the design, materials, and skilled labour.

A modest typhoon proof home constructed from hollow concrete block can be built for  $3600 CDN so the ability for The Bee Plan donors to impact the lives of many families is very high.

Why the Philippines?

The Philippines is the most exposed large country in the world to category 4 and 5 tropical cyclones.  On average 9 tropical cyclones make landfall in the Philippines each year.  The frequent occurrence of natural disasters (including earthquakes) coupled with alarmingly high poverty rates in excess of 50% and low quality housing has led to millions of families with poor living conditions, with no way out of poverty, and struggling to feed their children.

Why Donate to The Bee Plan?

The Bee Plan operates in a way that almost every dollar donated goes straight towards materials and labour to construct Typhoon proof housing for Typhoon Victims.  To accomplish this The Bee Plan is run strictly with volunteers who donate enough money to The Bee Plan to cover their own expenses.
